History of APPLE Trauma Response Center
- 1974 - Sexual Abuse Treatment Center (SATC) was established to provide crisis intervention for survivors of sexual assault and programs on rape prevention in the community
- 1982 - SATC began to serve survivors of sexual abuse ages seven and older
- 1987 – SATC merged with the Hillsborough County Crisis Center, and the Suicide and Crisis Center
- 1989 - The Early Childhood Sexual Abuse Treatment program was developed with “seed” money from the Junior League
- 1991 – Program was expanded to become a family-centered sexual abuse treatment program and renamed APPLE Services (APPLE is an acronym for Abuse Prevention, Psychotherapy, and Life Education.)
- 2006 - APPLE Services, which had previously been know for services focused on child sexual abuse and for adult survivors of sexual assault, changed its name to APPLE Trauma Response Center, to reflect the program’s expansion to include services for children who have experience a wider range of trauma situations including domestic violence, as well as adult victims of domestic violence.
