Each year several of our local university Social Work and Counseling programs utilize the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay's Counseling Center as a student field placement. Normally, students are placed here for 1-2 years for their required training internship.
Students work with clients, providing therapeutic services, under the supervision of a Licensed Therapist(s) and can expect to provide individual, family and group treatment. Their caseloads provide treatment around trauma issues for clients ranging in age from five to adult. Most cases are shared with another experienced therapist and are discussed during the weekly treatment team meeting.
Student interns are also included in the administrative and community planning meetings to offer a broader experience within the agency.
